Trends in Testing 2023

For many years, the waterfall model was the accepted approach. The motivation for the agile transformation was the ever faster changing market conditions: Changes were no longer disruptions, but welcome adjustments to create a successful product.

This trend of increasing flexibility and shortening the "time to market" is continuing: the time span from writing a requirement to the release in the productive application is becoming shorter and shorter and the increments in software development are becoming smaller and smaller. Because if you want to be successful today and in the future, you have to be more flexible and faster than the competition. Another challenge is that, in the course of digitalisation, IT systems are becoming larger and larger, more networked and thus more complex due to many dependencies.
