HolmeS3 – the innovation project for securing autonomous vehicles

With the initiative "Artificial Intelligence - Autonomous Mobility", the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy (StMWi) promotes innovations in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and data science in application areas such as mobility or logistics. As part of this initiative, the "HolmeS3" project has now officially started on July 1, 2020.

For this technology project, the OTH Regensburg - Software Engineering Laboratory for Safe and Secure Systems (LaS³) , Elektronische Fahrwerksysteme GmbH (EFS) and imbus AG have formed a team to further develop the methods for testing and securing autonomous vehicles.

The aim is to develop and provide a manufacturer-independent procedure and tool environment for 'scenario-based testing and for AI-based analysis of driving scenarios using a "causal inference engine".

The technology project will run until mid 2023, when the solution resulting from this Bavarian initiative is to be made available to companies from other industries that develop or operate intelligent, autonomous systems.

The project, which is supported by the StMWi, will sustainably strengthen Bavaria as a location and the competitiveness of the Bavarian automotive industry in this highly innovative and future-oriented field.
